What is Amlodipine?
High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the most common chronic diseases in Pakistan, often called the silent killer because it shows no symptoms until serious damage has occurred. Amlodipine is one of the most prescribed blood pressure medicines in Pakistan. It is effective, safe, well-tolerated, and affordable. Amlodipine belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers (CCBs). Tablet It works by relaxing the muscles in blood vessel walls, causing them to widen (dilate). This reduces the resistance against which the heart pumps and lowers blood pressure. In Pakistan, Amlodipine is available under brands such as Amlo-Q, Norvasc, Amlovas, Amlip, and many generics in 5mg and 10mg tablets.
